Lehi's Dream Of The Tree Of LifeIn Lehi’s Dream I find a symbolic reminder of my search for that which is most important to me and my family---the tree of life. It represents the love of God and all He has to offer. All around us there are things that attract our attention, distracting us from the love which we most desire. As we hold onto the iron rod (the Word of God which is Christ), He will lead us to that love which fills our hearts with charity for ourselves and for all men. LiahonaThis replica of the Liahona found by Lehi outside the door of his tent reminds us of the need to ever pay attention to the "small means" the lord provides for us each day to guide us in our lives. We should never lose focus on what's most important and what is the best use of our time. (Book of Mormon | Alma 37:38 - 42) 38 And now, my son, I have somewhat to say concerning the thing which our fathers call a ball, or director—or our fathers called it Liahona, which is, being interpreted, a compass; and the Lord prepared it. 39 And behold, there cannot any man work after the manner of so curious a workmanship. The Lord Has Shown You Unto MeJust prior to his death, Mormon passed the plates to his son, Moroni, to write the tragic ending of his people. Alone and in hiding, Moroni saw a future day when his words would come forth. He engraved these prophetic words: “Behold, I speak unto you as if ye were present, and yet ye are not. But behold, Jesus Christ hath shown you unto me, and I know your doing.” – Mormon 8:35 Two thousand years after he wrote those words, Moroni returned to earth as an angel and gave the plates to Joseph Smith who translated the records into what we know today as the Book of Mormon. Joseph said, “I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.” I add my own witness that because the Lord showed Moroni and others our day, they were able and inspired to include the teachings that we need right now. May we show our gratitude to a loving Heavenly Father and draw near to Him by studying from its pages each day. (See options...) |
