A depiction of Luke 22:14–23, this painting illustrates the Last Supper. Christ is in the center of the painting; while the light does not actually emanate from Christ, He is surrounded by a gentle halo of gold in contrast to the more mundane gray shadows of the apostles. The 11 apostles around the table each react differently to His words, highlighting their humanity, while in the background is Judas departing shadow.
