Liz Lemon Swindle
Liz Lemon Swindle began her painting career in first grade when a teacher pointed out her artistic leanings. Her first exhibitions were on the refrigerator, encouraged by her father. She spent her youth in northern Utah and has resided in the Beehive state the whole of her life.

She received an education first at Utah State University then at Weber State. As her family grew she was given an opportunity to relocate in Orem Utah where she accepted a position at the Osmond Studios television production company as a background painter and set designer. Though the position offered stability it was unable to squelch a passion for free-lance oil painting. Resigning from her work she was able to dedicate her time to her children and her painting.

In the early 1980s she tutored under renowned wildlife artist Nancy Glazier. There she learned invaluable skills that she is able to incorporate in her paintings today. As she continued her tutelage she established her own impressive reputation as a wildlife painter, participating in shows at major galleries in the central and western United States. Her most satisfying audience was her five children, particularly her fourth daughter Loree.

As satisfying as the work was, Liz felt there was something amiss in the subject matter. In October 1988 Liz submitted a painting to the National Arts for the Parks competition with children experiencing the richness of our national Parks. It was this unique perspective of life in National Parks, that captures the coveted Founders' Favorite award. She realized then that there was an audience for her portrait painting.

She continued on this course until the early 1990's. In 1992 with the support of her husband Jon Swindle, Liz began painting a subject matter she had long desired to approach; her faith. She was pleased to have her work travel throughout the country in a one-woman show. She went on to paint the work that has consumed the last eight years of her life. Liz has had the honor and privilege to paint her brother, and our Saviour Jesus Christ.

With the efforts of Susan Easton Black, she has printed a number of publications following the life and ministry of our Saviour. Adding her testimony that he lives through her art, has been rewarding beyond measure. Should she ever cease to paint the images of her faith Liz as stated or greatest joy will then be to paint and sketch her 11 grandchildren.
